Bri Baker's
Teaching Portfolio

My name is Bri Baker.  I am a 23 year old graduate student in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program at The College of Idaho.  I have  a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Pre-certification and History.  This website is my digital teaching portfolio, where you can find my MAT Thesis, my teaching philosophy and artifacts for the Danielson Standards.

As a teacher and a leader I believe there are eight important key factors for me.

I believe in. . .

Being Honest with other people.  Honesty is essential for stronger, healthier relationships with other individuals.  It conveys respect for the individuals you are being honest with and hopefully helps them be honest with you.

Laughter can open doors, to the heart and mind.  Be willing to laugh at yourself and just in general. It makes you less intimidating as a leader and tells others that they can feel comfortable enough to laugh, too.

Being a Guide instead of a dictator.  Let others know that you are there for support but that you trust them to make some decisions on their own.

Being Open Minded shows that you value other opinions and that you are willing to listen to new ideas.

Being Genuine shows others that you are comfortable with who you are and hopefully communicates that they can be comfortable with themselves.

Encouraging others when you see good behaviors or work.  It lets others know that you are aware of their hard work and everything they do.  It can also help others feel more confident in themselves and their work.

Being Available in all capacities; physically, mentally, emotionally. It lets others know that they can come to you and rely on you, if they need to.

Being Brave and standing up for what you believe in, while keeping all of these other traits in mind.  Being brave and being an advocate for something or someone you believe in, can inspire others to advocate for what they believe in.  Just advocate in a way that is respectful and courteous.

All of these things, I believe.
